one phrase to sum it all: IT ROCKED.
dayone:
left for school, usual time. assembled at the assembly area for a briefing then we all got on the bus and went all the way to pasir ris. the ride was pretty long. anyway, we got to our campsite. its this huge cordoned off grass plain with a huge white shelter (the main tent) at a side. we gathered there, dumped our huge heavy duffel bags and trooped to the basketball courts. we were kinda split into two groups in each class, (reg 1-22, 23-42) and had to collect 10 large pvc pipes, and 4 huge blue barrel things. carried them to the beach area, and planned how to build a workable raft with it. our plan kept changing but eventually we kinda decided on one. thank god we had guides in our group to do the knot tying ;D. sam yupei and jessica were like slogging and directing the knot tying, while constantly grumbling about how the nylon rope sucked. ahahhaa. penelope got a rope burn.

well anyway, we took about 2 hrs plus getting our raft together. the other group in our class were doing pretty well with the guides from their side too. ahaha. we were really proud of our raft and how the barrels seem fixtated to the pipes, actually. hoho! but in the end not only did we finish last, (we're in set 3 with class 3/5), our raft didnt stay afloat!!ahahaha. we were quite disppointed with the side where two barrels totally dislocated from the raft, and the people on it all fell into the pasir ris sea. meanwhile on my side of the raft we were all comfortably afloat. it was really amusing to watch. ahahaa. just that when nasha and victoria caught sight of the dead fish floating in the sea near our raft that they screamed and ran to shore. in the end we FAILED. it was pretty funny, since our other team of 3/3-ians also failed. their raft kind of fell apart in the sea. oh well. we all got wet. ahahaha. all sticky too. yuck! but then we kind washed off in the public area before proceeding to the bus. my specs broke! the side part. so we taped it down with scotch tape. but it still broke off anyway. ( i was kinda half-blind the whole of the camp after that)
reached kallang river! went to the dragonboat area and put on our lifevests and wooden oars. we were already soaking wet because of the rain and all. teehee. we were really excited! ahahaa. got on the boat and realized how shaky it was. but nonetheless still listened to our instructress and padded down the river, trying to be in unison but the front and back group were going in different timings. ahaha. she was telling us how amusing it was to see four different groups of people going to their own time.
anyhow, we kinda padded under a bridge and she was like "hold water!" so we were all under the bride. it looked pretty spooky. and then she asked us to put out paddles into the boat! we were like "no way" thinking that she was going to throw us into the river. so we kinda paddled out into the open first. hee. sat on the edge of the dragon boat and rocked from side to side. IT WAS FREAKING FUN. though a little scary at first. ahahahaha. and then we paddled back and she let us jump into the water! at first i was a bit reluctant to go in. after paddling through all the rubbish. but i decided that its probably the only time im gonna get a chance to swim in the kallang river from a dragon boat so yar. in i went! :D the water was lukewarm and rather salty. but swimming (more like floating) was quite enjoyable. i found it hard to swim coz of the stupid lifejacket obstruting. ahaha. rebecca too. so then we kinda held hans wih jaclyn in the watter and bobbed around together. rather strange and silly... hahahhahaha fun anyways.
we didnt win the race (4 groups- same as the rafting) but we didnt come in last either! -grins. mr teh was being his cute self and sitting at the back of the other 3/3 boat. aaahahaaa. i bet he had fun rocking the boat when they were sitting on the edge.
anyway, being all sticky and wet and well, dirty ( the kallang river isnt the cleanest place to swim in) we trooped to the shower area and just took showers with our clothes on :D. all soaking wet. ahahahaa. went out for a debrief and guess what? there was the SJI canoeing team practicing. ahahaha! too bad alessa wasnt there :P and unice thought that she saw lauw. but heck. i tried to hide somewhere and remain inconspicuous since i WAS wearing my church tee.
got back and the bus and froze half to death in the air con (we were still wet you see) and went back to camp. took a nice shower and had to scrub myt hair twice for fear of having decomposing dead bugs left behind in it. there werent many pple in the toilets though. apparently we werent allowed to bathe yet. OOPS. good thing miao li (the instructress in charge of out group) didnt get into trouble for allowing us to bathe before dinner. :X
i didnt sleep a wink that night. the tent was so... HUMID. i didnt sleep a wink. i was kept up all night fanning myself with the paper journal they had given us (oopsie -looks away innocently) shalom, beitris and cheong took too much space! squashing rachel and i =.= poof.
day two:
got up (well, kinda) at 612am and went to the toilets to take a bath. (all that stickiness gets annoying) thw water was cooollddd! and the stupid foot press for water thing was rather annoying. creative, but annoying. darn those newly renovated save-the-water type bath areas =.=
we were all 5 minutes late for assembly at 7 under the main shelter. got a shelling from ms tjl.
morning PT before breakfast was actually... kinda fun. the running part at least. after that he insrtuctors made us do 10 sets of jumping jacks and made us get into push up position and got out pants all wet because we were moving slowly. not suprisingly, there were grumbles all over. ahahaa.
after that did initiative games. blind rope things, rope-d ski looking planks, walking on wire while holding hands, the spider web and getting the mat across without touching the floor. yadda yadda. nothing really much to elaborate on. but the instructors for each station we went to commented on our team cooperation :) whoppee!
ropes courses were next. was stoning in the carpark while shihui, jaclyn, val and evelyn did the horrizonal ropes course and sam, grace and eun do the shaky bride thing. all done 30 feet in the air -applause
in the end mr teh, rebecca and jaclyn managed to persude me into doing the vertical ropes course. aka the more difficult and higher rope course. ahahaha. it was FUN! i didnt finish the last part (roackwall) but oh well. ahahaha. they were lowering me down then the belayer (jiazhi) kinda stopped lowering and left me dangling in mid air. miao li's idea!

ahahaha! mr teh is seriously the cutest. anyhoww, i got down unscathed, without converting into a taufik supporter. HAHA.
went back to the tents ( time: 530pm) and changed into shorts and class tee! gathered to the centre of the field where we held our gala night/ campfire!!!! YAYNESS. that was the best part of the entire camp :) lotsa singing together, doing the hokeypokey, arms around each other and swaying to the songs.. typical ij thing. hoho! our performance was successful i must say. cept for the "chang chang" part where everyone got meeesssy =.= howell. WE HAD FUN.
and thank god i didnt bathe before gala night. reason number one: ms shanthi was timing three minutes per person. number 2: got all sweaty during gala night.
after bathing,grabbed some supper and gathered for debrief with miao li. then nasha eve gill val and sherry sat on garbage bags on the field ( behind the 3/3-3/4 tents) and sang christmas carols.
on the first day of christmas, my true love gave to meeee...
then they went to their own tents ( we were split into tents according to reg number) then nicole laid out her sleeping bag on the grass for me, her and connie to lie on and gossip.
ning joined us too. i had a terrible giggling fit. oof. ahahahaa.
finally decided to go to sleep in the tent after staring at the stars ( we saw a shooting star!) some people were at the main shelter thing playing hangman with rayyan and mr.E =.=
ANYWAY. i got to my tent where rachel was gone ( she shifted to another tent) . so shalom beitris and cheong were pretty apced out and comfortably sleepin g already. ahahahaha. it wasnt squashy at all! and i slept well. it wasn that warm or humid either. just that cheong kinda radiates heat when she sleeps =.= ahahahaa.
day three (today):
woke up slightly later at 620am. not bad since i slept only at about 1am and there was no alarm clock :D
washed up and went for PT (physical trng) it was not as long a run as yesterday. ahahaha. breakfast was nasi lemak! i gotta admit. they feed us well at the camp. we packed our bags and arranged them neatly in the main shelter before breaking camp and packing our tents. shalom and i had some trouble folding our tent cover. aahahahaa.
everything was done so we had time to slack around and SING. after that we did the obstacle course! it was fun. i borrowed val's specs so i could see better. overall, we had to do 5 different activities as individuals in the class- the waterbomb catching, blindfolded crossing, balloon walking, human bridge and the pyramid.
